Squashing the Struggles: What a Birth Chart Looks Like

herdepressiontobeseen answered: What confuses me most is how to know where to put the signs in the wheel, and how to tell where the first sign (aries) would start them at.

For anyone beginning to decipher their Birth chart, my first suggestion is to get it done for free at CafeAstrology or Astro.com. Aside from reading the description, make sure you’re looking at your actual chart drawing. Both sites will provide a list of what sign rules each house and what sign rules each planet, and so on. Try matching what you’re reading with what you see depicted in the picture of your chart. Everyone’s birth chart is unique and special to the very minute they were born.

Although the signs will go in their correct sequence, this does not automatically mean that your First House is ruled by Aries. If that was the case, then everyone’s Ascendant would be the same, so on and so forth. Your First House can be ruled by ANY of the signs, but they will ALWAYS be in their correct order. For example, you can have Virgo as the ruler of your First House. That would mean that your Second House is ruled by Libra, Third House ruled by Scorpio, etc., etc.

The 12 Houses: Quick Reference Guide
First House: House of Self. This House is most closely linked to you personally, and can be viewed as the most powerful House in your Birth Chart because it reveals everything about your outward behavior and your tastes that define who you are. This House determines your Ascendant and in doing so, all other areas of your chart are put into place.
Second House: House of Money and Possessions. This House will show you how you approach money, your income, your spending habits and what possessions stay close to the heart. This House can also indicate your ability to turn hobbies or leisure activities into something lucrative.
Third House: House of Communication and short-term travel (day-to-day travel, for work, school, etc). This House represents how you communicate, how you express yourself, how you speak, write, think, memory, etc. It can showcase your ability to learn, but it also can reveal your relationships with family and acquaintances.
Fourth House: House of Home, parents, past, present, future, childhood, and gifts bestowed upon you from ancestors or your past lives. This is representative of what is most comfortable for you, and your subconscious actions. This is considered one of the Mystical Houses, which carries a lot of weight in regards to your inner, most secret sides of your personality. In a more tangible sense, it influences how you prefer to live, what feels like home, real estate, security, and what you make for yourself.
Fifth House: House of Creativity and Sex. What you enjoy, the fun side of life, hobbies, and how you express yourself creatively are showcased here. This House will indicate a strength in the arts, love affairs, talents, new ideas and avenues, risk taking, and your sexual desires. It rules not only your heart of hearts, but also pets, children, and what you're instantly attracted to.
Sixth House: House of Service and Health. This House will indicate how you feel most of use and of purpose in relation to others, usually in a work setting or some form of an order-system. It can indicate what type of leader you're able to be, and if you excel in relating to others. Because this House also rules over your health, it can indicate if you have a strong immune system, and your physical strengths and weaknesses in relation to illness.
Seventh House: House of Partnership and Marriage. This House indicates what type of person you will choose to spend the rest of your life with, and your overall personality in a relationship. It can indicate divorce and more than one marriage. But this House extends beyond this; it can show you how you attend to business relationships, your ability to work with others, legal contracts or unions, shared goals, and how you assimilate with others.
Eighth House: House of Death and Regeneration. Another Mystical House, it isn't the easiest House to interpret because it's meaning is quite detailed and heavy. This House concerns itself with life, death, sex, the afterlife, as well as your own spiritual transformation as a person. In relation to legacies, it indicates what you receive from those before you, and what you leave behind in your name. It can also indicate inheritances. This House is known to showcase psychic powers and an interest in the occult. And quite literally death in the sense that it can show you a vague picture of conditions at the time of your death (although it will not indicate WHEN).
Ninth House: House of Mental Exploration and Travel. This House will indicate education, (worldly, long distance) travel, mental activity, and communication on a grand scale. It can indicate an appeal to learn and understand not only other languages, but other cultures and the expansion of yourself by broadening your horizons. It can even indicate people that you meet abroad and their influence on your life. On a more basic level, personal philosophies, learning, reading, and writing.
Tenth House: House of Career and Public Life. This House represents everything about you in an outward sense; your career, your status, and your reputation. It shows your approach to your goals and ambition and the image you project to get the job done. This House can also reveal the acclaim you're apt to receive, how you accept responsibility, and the kind of success you're apt to achieve through these very efforts.
Eleventh House: House of Friendship, Hopes and Wishes. This House will reveal how idealistic you are, and where you see yourself going. But because it also represents friends, it can indicate how well you do in group settings, what type of friend you are, and your involvement in the community, associations, clubs, and shared goals. On a more personal level, it will indicate intellectual interests and your dreams.
Twelfth House: House of Secrets, Sorrows, and Self-Undoing. The last and most intense of the Mystical Houses, it is important to note Planets in this House (and always be aware of the sign that governs this House) because while not everything about this House is entirely negative, it is an area that needs active attention. This House will place limitations, disappointments, unseen negative forces (enemies, affairs, etc), escapism, and prison. By learning to understand what the 12th House means to you, you can successfully grow and surpass limitations set on you by this House, which, when given the proper attention, can indicate beautiful creativity, balanced altruism, and psychic and intuitive talents.

graphinsimsology Asked: Hello!~ Is there a difference in planetary placements in two people having the same birthday but a different year? How does a place of birth affect your placements too?

Yes, of course there is!

Let me break it down:

  • You need to know your time of birth because planets and houses change throughout a 24 hour period. Chances are, if you were born 2 hours before, or 2 hours after, your birth chart could be quite different, such as your Houses, Midheaven, Ascendant, and Moon, depending on the time. Sometimes, if you’re born when planets are transitioning, even if you’re off by a few minutes, your chart could be VERY different.
  • You need your location of birth because of time zones. We just had a Blue moon last week. But when Japan was having their second full moon, people in the US was having their first full moon. This matters. Just like time of birth, if your location of birth isn’t correct, it can alter planet placements and Houses placements.
  • Two people could be born the same day of a different year, even around the same time, and STILL have very different birth charts. Planets are moving, and they aren’t always in the exact same spot year after year at the same time. They have cycles, yes, and stay in certain signs, so you can predict where they may be, but House placement MATTERS.

All of it matters. If you want to know details pertaining to you and only you, in order to have your CORRECT BIRTH CHART done, you must know your correct, to the minute:

-Day and year of birth

-Birth time

-Location of birth

shotgunshay Asked: hey! I was the one who was asking about who would be a good match for me and you said it would be hard to tell with out my planets, so.... I was born in American Fork, ut at 6:15 p.m. on December 16th 1991. Also ( if you don't mind me asking) Why are the houses important? I get the signs and planets, but never quite understood how houses come into play and why they matter. Thank you so much for being patient with our questions!

Your placements are:

Sun in Sagittarius in 6th House

Moon in Aries in 10th House

Ascendant in Cancer

Midheaven in Pisces

Mercury in Sagittarius in 6th House

Venus in Scorpio in 5th House

Mars in Sagittarius in 6th House

Jupiter in Virgo in 3rd House

Saturn in Aquarius in 8th House

Uranus in Capricorn in 7th House

Neptune in Capricorn in 7th House

Pluto in Scorpio in 5th House

Your best match would definitely be Aries, Cancer(depending on planet placements), Leo, and even Scorpio (depending on planet placements). Those matches are based ideally on your own planet placements.

So here is a run down on why the Houses are important: The 12 houses govern 12 different areas of our life. It provides a lot more detail than simply Sun sign in Sagittarius. As an example for you, your sun sign is in the 6th House. Having your Sun sign in the 6th house adds dimension in that you are most likely a strong organizational presence no matter where you go. You feel your best when you are appreciated by others, especially when you are actively completing something or helping people out in some way. You tend to recuperate fast from any illnesses. You are efficient and see the root of an issue clearly. However, you can be a bit difficult because you likes things a certain way. When you pair that with a Sun sign in Sag, then you have a very open-minded, intellectual, systematic, ambitious, creative, person who gives everything 110%.

Each House carries with it a weight, and some houses are heavily emphasized in a person’s chart. When a house has typically more than one planet inside, you should understand how that is expressed in your life and your personality. Empty houses are nothing to fret over. Everyone has a Zodiac sign that rules over each house, unique to your own personal birth chart.

An example looking at your chart: Your 11th House is empty. The 11th house rules over friends, hopes and wishes. It would be silly to say that you don’t have friends, that you’ve never had a hope or a single wish in your life. Aries rules your 11th House, which means, among your friends and peers, you tend to have a strong presence. You are active when pursuing your dreams and it wouldn’t be far fetched to say that quite possibly your friends or people you participate in activities with, see you as a unique leader.

This is just a small fraction of the meaning of houses in a birth chart and how they can be expressed.

I hope this has helped you, please let me know if you have any other questions. I love having this blog and enjoy helping you all out, so thank YOU for being patient! :)

Anonymous Asked: You seem to be quite knowledgeable in Astrology, love the blog! I have my full chart on Cafeastrology, but they are very vague in certain places. Is there any chance that if say someone wanted to know more about their chart, are you at all open to getting messages? If not, that's cool! Don't want you spammed with requests. Oh and if I could be awful and also ask, what can you tell me about a person born on Aug 1st 1993?

Let me know what areas you need more clarification on specifically, and I will totally help you! I just don’t do chart readings because they are incredibly time consuming! I did them when I first started this blog and because I love to give tons of details, it took me forever!

**I will help clarify any uncertainty in a person’s chart. Just give me the proper placements or birth info and will answer your specific question**

I am glad you love the blog, here is an overview for you :)

August 1:

While you have your temper, you are also very likable and incredibly warm hearted. You appreciate what others think of you, and although it is important for you to be liked, you would never truly sacrifice yourself in any harmful way to please another. Always presenting yourself strong, you can also be very bold and even a bit rebellious! You are tireless when it comes to getting what you want. You could wish for the moon, and you sure as hell would be the person to get it! You are extremely thoughtful and excitable in relationships.

FanMail Ask

hey when reading your birth chart, what do all the planets actually stand for? thanks

— seduceemyymindd
Here is a breakdown:
  • Sun- Usually the most powerful planet in the chart (there are exceptions). This represents your individuality, how others see you, your energy, your human style of being, and the broad picture of who you are.
  • Moon- Our instincts, emotional selves, reactions, your hidden side, your animalistic instincts, dreams, memory, and how others feel about you. It’s importance is second only to the Sun placement.
  • Ascendant- Our “rising” sign. Showcases your outward actions, behavior, and how you are around others. It also shows what kind of impression you make, and how you are most comfortable representing yourself.
  • Mercury- How we act in conversations, how we think, what we are naturally talented at, mental activity, communication, memory and how we perceive the world to be. It influences how we speak and even our sense of humor.
  • Venus- This shows what kind of people we are attracted to. How we view a relationship, how we act in relationships, how we entice attraction from others, and how we relate to sex. It also influences our creative talents, and how easy we are to get along with.
  • Mars- This shows how our physical energy is represented. How do we spend our time? Our sex drive, our aggression, and the meaning and emotion behind our actions. Are you bold? Do you have a strong willpower? What is your temper like? Fight or flight?
  • Jupiter- Represents good luck, success, optimism, and joy of life in our chart. How fortunate are you? How we react to new experiences and how we relate to the world on a philosophical level. Do you attract money with much or little effort? -another way of how Jupiter is expressed in a chart.
  • Saturn- Represents responsibility, work ethic and how we approach obstacles and how we use discipline. Do you give up easily? Do you fight for what you want? Also represents self-control, limitations, patience, restrictions and maturity.
  • Uranus- Represents change, unique capabilities, and the element of surprise in your chart. Brings unexpected opportunities and second chances. Our natural talent in the arts and the sciences. Our unconventional side, our quirks and interests related to that. Your own individuality that is unlike others. It can also show if you have genius tendencies and what kind of unusual circumstances and people you attract.
  • Neptune- Represents illusion, mystery and the imagination. How active is your fantasy life? Do you have a strong compassion for others? Do you have a secret spiritual side? Visions, dreams, ideals, goals, and allure all are representative of Neptune in your chart.
  • Pluto- Pluto has a lot of power, but it’s ways in which it influences a person’s chart goes beyond the surface definition. Pluto brings about change, transformation and the mystical side of life and death in a person’s chart. Because Pluto tends to move slowly, it is important to understand what house Pluto resides in your chart. Pluto influences humanity, it destroys and creates at the same time. Do you rise to great heights? Have you changed your life dramatically? Did a death change your life? Pluto represents uncovering the past to make way for tomorrow. There is still much to learn about Pluto’s influence in an astrological chart.

You need to have your birth chart done. You will need your birthdate, time, and location. You can find this easily at

cafeastrology.com

or

astro.com

At this time, I have only posted about what Sun signs mean depending on the House. There are also your other planets and the houses they are in to know as well!
