Anonymous Asked: As a Leo rising, does it makes sense how people with leo venus, moon, or mars will believe that we connect?

Yes, and it also denotes a special connection to those who are Aquarius Sun, Moon, Venus, or Mars.

Squashing the Struggles: The Ascendant

thelovelylibra answered: What confuses me is your Sun v Ascendent. Like which do people see more? Your sun? WHat’s you ascendent for, exactly?

I have A LOT of information on the Ascendant. Go HERE to have a read.

To answer you directly:

  • People usually see your Ascendant during first impressions, but the Ascendant or Rising sign is likened to the filter to the outer-directed world and has a direct effect on you when you interact with others, social situations, etc.
  • It’s SO IMPORTANT. It sets the tone for your entire Birth Chart because it is always found at the cusp of your First House. It denotes your Descendant which is likened to who you attract and what kind of person will have an impact on your life.
  • Sometimes your Ascendant can be heavily aspected and be more apparent than your Sun sign when interacting with others, or your actions may be more representative of the ascendant than the sun sign.
  • Other types of Astrology herald the Ascendant as MORE important than the Sun sign, to give you an idea of how integral it is to understand yours and how it interacts with the rest of your birth chart.

In Western Astrology it is unfortunate that people only pay attention to their Sun sign, when there is SO MUCH MORE to our personalities,. Each and every aspect and placement makes up who we are as a whole, while the Sun sign is the broadest (and sometimes incorrect) way to describe us as individuals.

I hope this helps answer your questions!

Anonymous Asked: I really dislike having a Virgo Ascendant (as a water Sun sign). When I realized that I did match up with many of the virgo asc. descriptions, I started to dislike myself even more. I feel too wary of people and even more shy, and I can't start conversations without feeling pressured or scared of judgement for some reason. Do you think having a virgo ascendant has anything to do with being really wary and cold in front of people? I don't want to act this way on purpose, but it comes naturally :(

I’m sorry to hear that you’re not loving who you are! However, one of the beauties of astrology is when uncovering traits about yourself that if you feel hindered from your interactions with people, you can take steps to improve yourself! (so many astrology haters out there think that people who are into astrology use it as a crutch or an excuse for bad behavior, when that’s not the case)

First thing’s first: I think you need to learn to love your Virgo traits. Disliking yourself won’t get you anywhere in life and you can easily become your own worst enemy.

Why you should love Virgo in your birth chart, and how to make the most of it:

  • Calculating, driven, and perfection. You will strive for the best and to be the best. While it can be tiresome, you can learn to always accept and understand your worth. You will learn your own value.
  • The people who enter your lives will be worthwhile ones. A prominent Virgo placement can sometimes make it hard on letting new people in (which I think is what you’re feeling), but by easing up in social situations (just smile and treat people how you would want to be treated if you were “new” or meeting new people), the people who stick around will usually be loyal, fun, and long-lasting.
  • With Virgo in your chart, not everyone is paying as close attention to shyness or pressure as your are. This is a gift and a curse in respect to the sign of Virgo; your attention to detail sets you apart, but can cause you to exude a nervous energy. No one is going to be as hard on yourself as YOU, so remember to ease up on yourself and treat yourself as if you were your best friend. Changing how you are in social situations won’t happen overnight, but by taking small steps to make others feel welcomed around you can lead you to feeling LOADS more comfortable around people.
  • Shyness is OKAY, but don’t let it debilitate you. Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy way to battle shyness, but it helps to hold your life in perspective: this is your life, and you don’t want to wake up 10 or 20 years from now and think about all the chances you haven’t taken, or people you wish was in your life because you didn’t put yourself in situations that allowed you to grow. This is a really important life secret: if you don’t feel scared or uncomfortable about new stuff from time to time, you’re going to miss out on a lot in life. Growth and positive change stems from stepping outside of your comfort zone.

At the heart of it all, just remember that the more you LIKE yourself, the more OTHER people will feel comfortable around you, and you will feel LESS weary and cold. Not everyone is meant to be bubbly and outgoing! Not everyone feels energized in social situations. We all have our own special gifts and talents, and as long os you’re a decent human being who isn’t a total twat, life will work out for you.

Anonymous Asked: (Genral) Rising sign compatibility?

Well, so much goes into compatibility that I really can’t do much to answer you except…

A Few Things to Note About Rising Sign Compatibility

1. No matter your Sun Sign, whatever your Rising sign is will attract others with the same element as your Rising sign, or others who possess that sign heavily in their chart

2. The opposite sign of your Ascendant, your Descendant is someone who will be a source of intense attraction, or a source of incredible balance and intrigue. Not every person you meet with their Sun sign in your Descendent will feel like this, but if someone with that sign enters your life, a bond will be formed, whether it’s always lasting or full of conflict, it depends, but will be memorable nontheless

3. People can often be unfairly judged by their Rising sign, so while first impressions may for the most part be correct, be careful before writing someone off, they may pleasantly surprise you!

Anonymous Asked: I was wondering if there was any advice you could give to someone who doesn't like their Rising Sign? I'm a Sag Sun with a Libra Moon so I should be fairly social, but my Taurus Ascendant makes me come off really shy and I think when people finally get to know me, I'm so different from how I appear that I scare them off! I just don't want to be so shy and standoffish. =(

Hi love!

Taurus can be a rather social sign when comfortable, and it’s normal to be perceived differently from how you truly are—our Rising sign certainly influences that! (that’s why it truly takes time to know people) :)

Some tips for making a good impression:

  • Smile. People underestimate the power of a smile and what it does for others.
  • Be welcoming with your body language: don’t stand there with your arms crossed when first meeting someone. Whatever the custom is to greet people (this is such a big one I have learned abroad. If people extend their hand for a handshake, for god’s sake SHAKE it! Lol, in Japan a smile and a slight bow (head nod) shows graciousness and being polite).
  • Be aware of the tension in your face. Unintentional bitch face (I have it, so trust me on this) has people assuming that you’re a bitch, too good for them, or conceited, so just make sure your brows aren’t furrowed, and you shouldn’t feel tightness in your face.
  • If you meet someone and you’re wearing sunglasses, TAKE THEM OFF. So rude, standoffish, and just plain bad manners.
  • When you just meet someone and they are talking about something with a mutual friend, instead of tuning them out and waiting to talk to your friend, LISTEN and JOIN IN if you feel comfortable enough!
  • Genuine compliments. It has to be from the heart, babe, or else you just seem like Regina.

These may or may not apply to you, but when meeting new people and making good impressions these are good tips just to keep in mind. Of course, work with what feels comfortable for you, and be yourself! Let the real you shine if you have the opportunity—and you always will.

Good luck love!

xoxo

Anonymous Asked: I'm a Leo Rising and Scorpio Sun and people always seem to hate me for no reason. Like literally I could walk into a room and people have something negative say immediately. Could my rising sign and sun sign explain this at all?

Could be. The Rising sign in combination with a Scorpio Sun might form a Square, I would look and see if there are any aspects that form between the two. Often times Leo rising comes across as strong because that Sun influence makes a hard to miss presence. Combine that with the Scorpio magnetism? Yeah, you gather attention, and people are more apt to act negatively rather than positively because our society is more likely to tell you something negative about yourself than the very thing that they truly admire about you. AKA jealousy. AKA insecurities. AKA lame.

Let it roll, love, it isn’t worth it!

What is your Rising Sign, and do you think it’s your “mask to the world”?

Many people strongly identify with it, and others do not, but it’s a part of your personality regardless. It’s influence is stronger than people realize, and I am curious about how it relates to you.

Go!

Anonymous Asked: Does your rising have a big impact on personality? Because I feel like I am so influenced by my rising sign, it's crazy. I feel like I am nothing but a Gemini rising.

Never Underestimate Your Ascendant

The Rising sign definitely has a larger role on our personalities, more than just the way people perceive you, that’s definitely true. It’s the way we act in order to feel comfortable in new experiences and people. It showcases our outward personality, along with our Mercury, Mars, and Midheaven. You also might have a heavily aspected Ascendant—take a look at that in your Birth Chart.

Often times, though, as we grow and mature and really come into our own, we seem to “fit” our Sun sign a bit more and see it’s presence as the “filter” through which all of our other planet placements go through.

It’s normal to feel as you do, but I hope this provided some insight too :)

Planet Placement Quick Reference Guide
Sun: Commonly referred to as your "Sun Sign" "Star Sign" "Zodiac Sign" etc. Usually the most powerful influence over your personality (there are exceptions). It shows you as a whole, the general picture of what you represent, how others see you, your energy, and your individuality.
Moon: Your hidden side, your emotions and feelings, animalistic instincts, your dreams, memory, how others feel about you, and it's importance is second only to your Sun placement.
Ascendant: Also known as the "Rising Sign." How other people see you. The impression you make on others, and how you are most comfortable presenting yourself to the world. Showcases your outward actions, and behavior.
Mercury: How you communicate and participate in conversations, how you think, what you are naturally talented at, your mental activity, memory, and how you perceive the world to be. This placement influences how you speak and even your sense of humor.
Venus: This shows what kind of people you are attracted to. How you view and participate in a relationship. This shows how you attract others, and your relation to sex. This placement also influences your creative talents and if you are easy to get along with.
Mars: This placement showcases how your physical energy is expressed. How you enjoy spending your time, your sex drive, your aggression, and the meaning and emotion behind your actions. The boldness of your personality and your willpower are also represented here.
Jupiter: Represents good luck, optimism, success, and the joy of life in your chart. How you react to new experiences, how fortunate you are, and how you view the world on a philosophical level. And also, how you attract money.
Saturn: This shows areas of your life where you learn and require responsibility, working hard for what you want, your approach to obstacles, and how self-disciplined you are. Also represents self-control, limitations, patience, and maturity.
Uranus: This planet represents change, unique capabilities, and the element of surprise in your chart. Brings unexpected opportunities and second chances. Your natural talent in the arts and sciences. Your unconventional side, and your quirks and interests related to that. This placement will showcase your individuality, and bring forth unusual people or circumstances you attract. It can also let you know if there are genius tendencies.
Neptune: Represents illusion, mystery, imagination, and compassion for others. Your spiritual side, dreams, visions, allure, creativity and that ethereal quality in your life. Your deepest fantasies and if you get caught up in that or not.
Pluto: Pluto has a lot of power, but it's ways in which it influences a person's chart goes beyond the surface definition. Brings about change, transformation, and the mystical side of life and death in a person's chart. Because Pluto tends to move slowly, it is especially important to understand what House your Pluto resides in. It influences humanity, and destroys and creates at the same time. It will show if you rise to great heights, dramatic changes in your life, deaths that impact you, and uncovering the past to make way for tomorrow. There is still much to learn about Pluto's influence on a chart.
Midheaven: Your approach to chasing your goals, and career. It shows how you are when taking the lead (or if you don't), your natural capabilities and talents, and how you feel most useful.
Descendant: This is the opposite sign of your Ascendant. It naturally rules over the 7th House and will show you what sign you are most naturally drawn to. When life feels out of control or out of balance, you should adopt the positive qualities of your Descendant to obtain inner peace.
South Node: The natural talents, abilities, and personality traits you enter this life with. It can hold you back if you refuse to grow and move beyond what you already possess. It is also said to represent your past life.
North Node: Your destiny. The qualities you need to embrace to become who you need to be. This forces you to grow, to learn, and to achieve. Once you are able to pursue your North Node and embrace those qualities, will you be able to blend your South and North Node qualities to create wholeness.

Anonymous Asked: I'm a Scorpio yet I always find myself attracted to Aquarius guys. I think it's because I love their aura, their desire to change the world & how they accept & love everyone around them. I have always been someone who tends to find flaws in others and try to know their weaknesses as much as their strengths (typical Scorpio I CAN'T HELP IT!!!) ANYWAYS I just wanted to say THANK YOU for posting about descendants! I'm a Leo rising and now it makes sense why I have a soft spot for Aquarius guys :)

Ah, you’re welcome! It really helps us understand more than we initially think. Chances are, you will meet an Aquarius who will change your life for the better, and could even enter a beautiful relationship with.

Take care xoxo

Anonymous Asked: hi, so sorry about your mother, my condolences. I have my Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Pluto in Scorpio, rising sign, north node and Mars in Sagittarius, Saturn in Aquarius, and Uranus and Neptune in Capricorn. Could my Sag components be a factor in the fact that I have a lot of friends with fire signs? And what is my general compatibility with air and earth signs as these seems to be the ones I am most attracted to? Thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate it more than you know.

And yes, your Ascendant being in Sagittarius is why you get along well with Fire signs, and your Mars sign (planet of actions, outward behavior, aggressions, sex, etc.) has a large influence as well.

Your Descendant is Gemini, which means you are probably attracted Gemini’s (Air) or perhaps people who have Gemini influence in their chart. You have a large and unique Scorpio/Plutonian influence in your chart which usually suggests that other water signs or earth signs would most likely be your most suitable match. However, in a person’s chart that you enter a relationship with or have a strong attraction to, ideally you should see some Fire and Air in there somewhere to complement what will fulfill you the most.

Something to note: when a person has a Sun, Moon, or Personal Planet in your North Node (in your case Sag), it means that this will be a relationship of growth and it will only build you up and it will feel as if you going down the right path.

If someone has a prominent planet in your South Node (in your case Gemini) beware that while the connection could be instant and full of chemistry, unless there are other prominent planets that suggest individual growth, eventually you WILL outgrow them and feel the need to move on. Because they would also share your Descendant, it would leave a large impact on your life and could be a relationship you’ll never forget.

I think for compatibility, a Sagittarius with a strong Scorpio influence in their chart could be an ideal match for you, but you could do quite well with Cancer, Aries, or another Scorpio.

I hope this helped :)

Never Underestimate Your Ascendant

Why your Ascendant is more important than you think:

It is of course, the “mask” we wear that makes a first impression on others.

But it’s importance goes beyond that. It’s a pivotal point in synastry because it can determine that soul-mate “feel” (meant to be) and it determines your Descendant which also does the same.

It determines how well we get along with other signs based on their element. For instance, you can have a ton of Earth influence in your chart, but if your Ascendant is Fire, you might get along quite well with Fire signs.

Although your Moon sign is second only to your Sun sign, your Ascendant is of the utmost importance when relating to others and what kind of impact you can have on people. It can determine certain physical characteristics, and when someone is the Sun sign of your Descendant, they tend to make a very large impact on your life when in a romantic relationship with that person.

For those who don’t know how to find your Descendant:

It’s the opposite sign of your Ascendant (rising sign)

If your Ascendant is:

Aries: Descendant Libra

Taurus: Descendant Scorpio

Gemini: Descendant Sagittarius

Cancer: Descendant Capricorn

Leo: Descendant Aquarius

Virgo: Descendant Pisces

(and vice versa)
