Everyone has a North Node and a South Node. It’s meaning is that we enter this world with a purpose and that there are traits we should embrace and traits we should learn to let go of to live this current life as full and successful as possible.
We all have a North Node and the House that the Node resides in. Both represent what we need to accomplish in this lifetime and what we need to embody and “become.” I will use myself as an example: My North Node is in Aries, located in my 9th House. What this means is that in my current lifetime, education, travel, and higher thinking is of the utmost importance. And the way I will fulfill that is by becoming independent and when I enter my field, I will become a sort of “leader” or “trailblazer.” As a matter of fact, I will be going back to school for a rather long time to get my Ph.D in Egyptology. It is what I am absolutely most passionate about in my life. You could say that my chosen profession and way of going about getting there fulfills my North Node. And then the sign my North Node is in is Aries, which means, by going into that field, there is a good chance I will pave the way for others, or perhaps make new discoveries. The main idea is that leading and initiative are the strong traits (I don’t mean to sound so self-enthused, but that’s what that combination means).
And in all aspects of astrology, there is always the other side of the coin. Since my my North Node is in the 9th House, my South Node is in the 3rd House. (Your North and South Nodes will always be opposite of one another). This means that what I want to let go of is the superficial side of life. I need to watch out that I don’t become an intellectual snob, that I am not fickle or contradictory. My South Node sign is Libra. That means in my lifetime I need to make sure that I become independent and stay away from relationships in which I am dependent on another and learn to stand on my own. My life will be marked by what I can do for myself, and if I don’t, I can become lazy and uninspired.
Everyone has a unique North and South Node sign and house combination. You can find yours by getting your birth chart done.
One thing I like to point out with North and South Nodes is that depending on your beliefs, it is such a wonderful aspect of Astrology. My personal beliefs are that we have past lives, and that you could say that your current South Node was once your North Node in your past life. Just putting it out there. Enjoy!
